Bristol

Background

We recently completed a conservatory roof replacement in Bristol. We converted this rather worn, old lean-to conservatory into an Edwardian style, complete with tiled conservatory roof. As it was a conversion, it involved slightly more work than our regular conservatory roof replacements. We also replaced the windows and french doors, as well as the roof.

Project Overview

When this young couple got in touch, they really wanted to increase the space and usability of their conservatory. The lean-to style left very little headroom and made the space feel small and enclosed. When our rep Steve went round, he offered up a few ideas to solve this.

Steve suggested converting the conservatory from a lean-to style to an Edwardian style conservatory. An Edwardian style conservatory is probably what most of us think of as a typical conservatory. It is rectangular in shape with a pitched roof to maximise head space.

As this was a complete conversion, we needed to change the conservatory windows and french doors as well. The current ones were too low for a pitched roof and were contributing to the small, cramped feel. The customers were happy to do this, as new double-glazed windows and doors only improved thermal efficiency even more.

We replaced the existing windows and doors with taller versions to increase the base height of the conservatory. We then topped it off with a tiled Edwardian style roof. This created high, vaulted ceilings indoors, so they finally had that open, spacious room they wanted.
